Good weather sparks lifeboat call outs

Wed, 17 Jul 2013

Good weather at the weekend sparked two rescue missions for Ramsey Lifeboat.

It was launched on Saturday afternoon, just after 3.30pm, to rescue a small sailing vessel which was in difficulty two miles east of the town.

The boat had nearly capsized and its two crew had been thrown into the water.

Both had managed to reboard the vessel but were unable to start the engine again.

The pair were transferred into the lifeboat and the boat was safely towed into Ramsey Harbour.

The lifeboat was then called to assist a RIB which had experienced engine failure near to Maughold Head.

This was also safely towed back into the harbour area.
