Sidecar passenger died from blunt force trauma

A sidecar passenger who was killed in the Southern 100 races died from blunt force trauma after falling out of his sidecar.

57-year-old Paul Thomas from Ballasalla died last Thursday, July 11th, following an incident in the sidecar championship race.

An inquest into his death opened today with the court told that the gardener went into cardiac arrest at the scene.

Paramedics carried out CPR and he was taken to Noble’s Hospital where he later died.

A postmortem report showed he’d died from multiple injuries to his head, spine, chest and abdomen.

Coroner of Inquests John Needham adjourned proceedings to a later date and offered his deepest condolences to the rider’s family.
