Education boss concerned over GCSE changes

The new chief executive of the Department of Education and Children has raised fresh concerns over the ongoing dispute surrounding GCSEs in England.

Speculation over possible changes to the exams has been ongoing for some time.

Manx students currently follow England’s GCSE system but a breakaway has not been ruled out.

Professor Ronald Barr, who is the former principle of the Isle of Man College, says this isn’t an immediate consideration but the situation isn’t ideal:
