Success of Manx language to be highlighted

A delegation from Jersey will visit the Island this week to find out more about the success of the Manx language.

Rod Bryans – Jersey’s Assistant Minister for Education, Sport and Culture – will be joined by other representatives from the Channel Island for the two day visit.

It comes off the back of the British Irish Council summit where a work group was established to look at minority languages within the British Isles.

The group will meet with the head of the Manx language unit and visit schools and nurseries where Manx is commonly spoken.

Education improvement advisor Paul Craine says the Island’s progress in this area is being well received:
