A national debate about the state of the Island's pension system will start early next year.

Last week, Chief Minister Allan Bell described the issue as the biggest threat to the economic and social future of the Isle of Man.

It's predicted that the National Insurance fund will run out of money in 2050 - meaning many people face a future without acceptable state pension provision.

The debate will focus on how to provide pensions, health care and social services in a viable manner.
