OFT advise consumers to avoid counterfeiters

Unscrupulous traders selling counterfeit goods are gearing up for the festive season.

That’s the message from the Office of Fair Trading – which is highlighting the need to think twice about buying ‘fake’ goods.

The office says consumers can sometimes be tricked into buying merchandise without realising what the consequences might be.

Trading Standards Officer David Oldfield says proceeds from the sale of fraudulent goods may go towards funding other serious crime operations:
