Police say new drivers should adhere to 'R Plate' rules

Don’t lose your life or your licence.

That’s the hard-hitting message police in the west are trying to get through to newly qualified drivers.

Officers are using social media to appeal to those who have recently passed their driving tests to take it easy on the roads.

They say in recent weeks, there have been numerous incidents where people have overturned their vehicles – in many cases because they are driving too fast for the conditions.

Drivers have been told to obey the rules of their ‘R Plates’ and not to put others at risk.
