More people needed for manufacturing sector

Fri, 14 Mar 2014

Government and the manufacturing sector are appealing for people who "like making things" to consider studying engineering at the Isle of Man College.

Manufacturing is key to the Department of Economic Development's Vision 2020 strategy - but more people are needed to fill the upcoming roles.

Island-based engineering companies say they are looking to employ locally, instead of recruiting people from elsewhere.

881 people were employed by the Island's Aerospace Cluster members at the end of January 2014 - which creates around 80 new jobs in engineering every year.
