Infrastructure Minister welcomes promenade overhaul plans

The Department of Infrastructure says it would be happy to discuss new proposals for a sea wall to run along the promenades in Douglas.

Architect firm Pearce Tyreman Architects has mocked up plans which would see the railings along the walkway replaced.

It wants to see the wall created into a visitor attraction with historical and cultural references in an effort to make the promenade somewhere to be proud of visiting.

Infrastructure Minister Laurence Skelly hasn't yet seen the plans but says he would welcome the opportunity to discuss the idea.

He says it could prove a solution to the recent flooding:
