Attorney General extension had to wait until end of trial

Wed, 02 Apr 2014

Extending the acting Attorney General’s contract wasn't deemed appropriate until a court case had concluded.

That’s the view of the Chief Minister who says government only approached the UK Ministry of Justice at the end of February.

John Quinn has held the position for the last year – after taking over from current Attorney General Stephen Harding who is suspended following a court case.

Allan Bell says it was important not to be premature with the extension and not to put any measures in place unless necessary
