Government 'committed' to tackling youth unemployment

Thu, 03 Apr 2014

Early intervention is key to providing the best start in life for the Island’s young people.

That’s according to the Economic Development Minister who says government is continually looking for ways to engage with this group.

Yesterday members of the public, private and third sector came together at the Reach Higher conference to look at improving employability skills.

John Shimmin says youth unemployment is a challenge that most government’s face and is not unique to the Island.

He says government has now committed to making this problem one of its ‘top priorities’ in the coming years.
