Samaritans look for "listening volunteers"

Information sessions are being held for people interested in volunteering for an Isle of Man charity.

The Samaritans want to recruit "listening volunteers" at its Douglas branch.

The charity provides a 24-hour helpline to give emotional support to aid people in distress, despair or for those feeling suicidal.

Deputy director with responsibility for outreach Sinead O'Connor says the sessions will help people make a sound decision on whether or not it's for them:
