Minister says ignoring energy options would be negligent

Failing to exploit renewable energy would be ‘negligent’ according to the department in charge of energy policy.

Government will miss its original target of producing 15 per cent of renewable energy by 2015.

It’s now hoping to see tidal energy in place by 2018 and wind and gas power by 2020.

Economic Development Minister John Shimmin says it has to be done:
