Plans to microchip bins spark mixed response

News that Douglas Council is installing microchips in wheelie bins has been met with a mixed reaction from the public.

Domestic bins are to be tagged so that the waste disposal habits of the town can be tracked in a bid to make the refuse service as cost effective as possible.

However our listeners have questioned the move - John says it's a further waste of ratepayer's money and Leanna agrees calling it 'ridiculous'.

Lesley questions if it's needed and says the money should be spent clearing up Douglas instead and Linda is worried it will lead to a waste charge.

However Phillip says considering the low cost of the microchips he doesn't see what the problem is.
