Treasury Minister sends warning to benefit cheats

Benefit cheats will be pursued 'aggressively' through the Isle of Man legal system.

That's the message from the Treasury Minister Eddie Teare following a conviction earlier this week.

A 33-year-old woman from Onchan was ordered to carry out 120 hours of community service after claiming almost £6,000 in benefits she wasn't entitled to.

Mr Teare says where there is clear evidence of fraud the government will ensure cases are actively pursued through the courts.

He says people should be punished:
