An MHK has refuted claims that young people are not engaged with local politics.

Last week a local headteacher said politicians were not doing enough to involve the youngsters.

The Isle of Man is one of few places to allow 16 year olds the vote, although when it comes to election time very few make use of the privilege.

Liberal Vannin Leader Kate Beecroft says there have been numerous examples in the past few years that show an increase in political awareness:
