Parking in Douglas won't always be free

Government can't supply free parking in Douglas forever.

That's the message from the Department of Infrastructure, which will soon charge motorists to park during prom redevelopment works.

It's opening up the seaward walkway, but unlike on previous occasions, people will have to pay as opposed to displaying their disc.

Government says through taxes people are already subsiding parking in the capital to the tune of £200,000.

Minister Phil Gawne admits there needs to be a wider debate:
