Minister meets with retail body over parking charges

Charging people to park on Douglas Promenade during development works will have a negative impact on retail.

That's the opinion of both retailers and the public after the Department of Infrastructure announced motorists will have to pay to park on the seaward walkway.

Our listeners have been having their say - Alison says this will affect Strand Street, Rosie says the shops will take the hit and Jan says she will pay more to buy local but won't pay to park as well.

Minister Phil Gawne admits there needs to be a more joined up approach - he met with the Chamber of Commerce on Friday however he says it isn't really his responsibility:
