Man accused of having unlawful sex with a 13-year-old

A teenager from Douglas has been remanded in custody after being charged with having unlawful sexual intercourse with a 13-year-old girl.

The 18-year-old defendant appeared at Douglas Courthouse yesterday on four counts of having sex with the girl.

Three charges relate to encounters alleged to have taken place in August and the fourth from September 14th.

Deputy High Bailiff Jayne Hughes was told the defendant met the girl during the summer holidays and despite being aware of her age entered into a sexual relationship.

Police investigations are on-going - Jayne Hughes remanded the man in Jurby Prison until his next hearing on Tuesday.
