Department of Infrastructure staff have been praised for their response to hazardous conditions on the Island's roads.

Minister Phil Gawne says the crews dealt with the aftermath through to the early hours of this morning in winds and heavy rain.

Trees have fallen, electricity supplies were disrupted and debris was spread across the roads as gusts reached 70 mph overnight.

The minister said the teams have done a commendable job.
