Toilet tax plans could be flushed for more equitable system

70 per cent of people who have to pay the sewerage charge could pay less than £100 under new proposals. 

Plans are underway to scrap the so called "toilet tax" and replace it with a charge linked to a property's rateable value.

The Manx Utilities Authority says the flat rate fee wasn't fair. 

The rate would be set at 62 pence in the pound - meaning properties with a higher rate value would pay more.
