Tynwald asked to approve sale of Nunnery

Tynwald will this month be asked to approve the sale of the Nunnery site for £5 million.

If approved the building would be sold to the International Centre for Technology Ltd, and would see the creation of an educational training facility specialising in ICT.

Currently the biggest obstacle faced by the local e-business sector is the shortage of skilled staff - it's hoped this facility would rectify that.

The idea was first conceived by the Manx Educational Foundation - although its original plans will not be fully implemented, it will remain as a stakeholder.

One of its aims was to attract international students - we asked Economic Development Minister Laurence Skelly if this is still a priority:
