Young farmer numbers declining

The Minister for Environment, Food and Agriculture will tomorrow be asked to give an age breakdown of farmers on the Isle of Man.

Onchan MHK Peter Karran wants to know what percentage of each group receives payments under the Countryside Care Scheme.

According to a leading farming figure on the Island numbers of young people pursuing a farming career are dwindling.
