Residents told to be flood ready in 2015

Government is considering whether or not to spend over half a million pounds on 'single-use' tidal flood defences.

High tides are expected in January, February, September and October next year which could cause problems if combined with strong winds.

In the event of severe weather 20,000 sandbags, bigger one-ton bags and other specialist flood prevention measures will be dished out to protect homes and businesses.

Infrastructure Minister Phil Gawne says more sturdy defences come with a hefty price tag - he's asking people to help themselves where they can:
