CoMIN must explore all sea service competition says MHK

CoMin is being "put under pressure" by the Steam Packet Company to extend its User Agreement beyond 2026.

That's according to Infrastructure member Chris Thomas, who says that competition for the market must now remain a priority.

The department has extended the closing date to January 21 for other organisations to register their interest in sea services.

It's being suggested by Mr Thomas that stakeholders should be engaged before a decision is made as to what comes next for the industry.

He explains that the service is set to be much improved either way:
