The inquest has been adjourned into the death of a Ramsey man who lost control of his car allegedly under the influence of drink and drugs.

27-year old Jamie Joseph Cowhig died of massive blunt force trauma near to Alpine Corner on the Kirk Michael to Ballaugh Road on Sunday 28th December.

A post-mortem conducted at Noble's Hospital revealed that Mr Cowhig had been under the influence of cocaine, ecstasy and cannabinoids.

The presence of the drugs in his system is to be re-examined in the UK by forensic toxicologists.

Originally from Whiston in Merseyside, he had lived in Ramsey's Keyside Apartments at the time of his death.

Coroner of Inquests John Needham released his body to his family so that funeral arrangements can take place.

The inquest has been adjourned to a date yet to be fixed.
