Extra resources needed to deal with burglary spike

Police are warning that the current spate of burglaries is undermining the Island's safe reputation.

Officers are urging people to shop anyone acting suspiciously after three further burglaries were reported yesterday.

They all took place in the Douglas and Onchan areas.

On Tuesday police exercised a warrant at a Douglas address looking for stolen items but came away empty-handed - a juvenile was also arrested yesterday in relation to a commercial burglary on New Year's Eve.

Superintendent Kevin Willson says the current problem is a "real concern" and extra resources are needed:
