Jury yet to be selected in murder trial

Mon, 26 Jan 2015

There’s been a delay in proceedings on the first day of a Castletown man’s murder trial.

45-year-old Ian Anderson is accused of killing Ballabeg man Neil Roberts in December 2013 - he has previously pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The trial, which is expected to take five weeks, started this morning.

Deemster Montgomerie, who is presiding over the case, apologised to the 60 members of the public who are on the panel for jury service.

However, he said all matters needed to be resolved before the trial could continue – the 12-strong jury is expected to be selected later this afternoon when proceedings are due to resume.
