Passing costs and services from central government to ratepayers is to blame for a rise in Onchan rates.

That's according to Onchan Commissioner Rob Callister - who says he's 'disappointed' that the authority has been forced to increase the district rate by 17p.

The rate is now set at 307p in the pound for the financial year from April to March 2016.

It equates to an increase of £26.45 per year for the average household.
