Doctors look to make antibiotics prescription safer

Junior doctors on the Isle of Man are developing an antibiotic prescription smartphone app.

It's part of an initiative to tackle unnecessary prescriptions of the drugs - as experts believe resistance will diminish if new alternatives aren't identified.

Initially Doctor Ben Lambden and Doctor Mustafa Jaafar will be funded by a £4,000 prize - won in a competition held by Health Education North West.

They still need to find up to £12,000 to deliver the software across the wards in Noble's Hospital - Dr Lambden explains how it would work:
