Over 200 engage in flood defence meetings

Sat, 04 Apr 2015

Over 200 people have helped influence the long-term future of the Island's flood defences.

The Department of Infrastructure is reviewing information from public meetings and representations from Tynwald Members and local authorities.

It's looking to find viable solutions to costal flooding and overtopping.

Officers joined flood management specialists to deliver presentations in Castletown, Ramsey, Laxey and Port St Mary last month.

Suggestions included providing a setback wall around harbours, raising harbour walls, and constructing tidal gates.

Meetings are also scheduled to take place In Douglas and Peel, whilst additional investigations will be carried out to construct a business case.
