New smoking rules will protect residents says MHK

Sat, 11 Apr 2015

Introducing tougher tobacco legislation would bring the Island in line with other jurisdictions.

That's according to the Department of Health and Social Care following the first reading of amendments to the new Bill in the House of Keys.

It calls for a ban on tobacco displays, and selling cigarettes in vending machines, and further controls on tobacco advertising to protect future generations.

The document also suggests government could issue fines for smoking offences.
