Probation order for man who smashed window

Thu, 30 Apr 2015

A heavily convicted criminal who smashed a shop window with a brick, following an argument with his partner, has been told his behaviour "isn't acceptable".

29-year-old Adam Cowin, who's currently serving a prison sentence for other offences, appeared at Douglas Courthouse earlier this week.

He pleaded guilty to criminal damage after smashing the window of Simply Sew on Derby Road in Douglas on February 21st.

Representing him his advocate described it as an "impulsive act" and said he was heavily intoxicated at the time - calling it "simple, mindless vandalism".

Cowin was handed a nine month probation order which will start on his release in May - he was also ordered to pay compensation of £50 and prosecution costs of £125.
