Island's construction industry continues to struggle

Whilst April showed the lowest unemployment figures in seven years there is one industry that is continuing to struggle.

Construction jobs have been significantly fewer in recent years amidst the economic downturn and a decline in building projects.

There are currently 120 builders unable to secure an on site job.

Economic Development Minister Laurence Skelly says it has been a poor situation, but things are slowly picking up:
