Roofing firm in court over Mount Murray blaze

Thu, 04 Jun 2015

A roofing firm accused of health and safety failings following a major fire at Mount Murray has had its court case adjourned until the end of the month.

Roy Cross, on behalf of Roofcraft, appeared at Douglas Courthouse on Tuesday.

The company is accused of failing to discharge duty on November 7th 2013 - the day of a devastating blaze at the Santon hotel complex.

Roofcraft is also charged with failing to comply with regulations in the Health and Safety at Work Act on the same day.

The company's defence team told the court it has now instructed its own health and safety expert.

The case has been adjourned until June 30th when it's expected pleas will be entered.
