Police critical of 'inaccurate' info which sparked bird row

Police have confirmed they haven’t given an ASBO to an elderly woman for feeding the birds in St Johns.

Yesterday the Mann Cat Sanctuary took to Facebook claiming that the 81-year-old had been told by police she could be “put in jail”.

The post attracted widespread criticism of the police and the German Parish Commissioners. 

Numerous complaints have been received about the number of seagulls in the area which are being attracted by food – a three year old child was recently attacked by one.
