Wed, 08 Jul 2015

A man who's been convicted of robbing a jewellery shop in Douglas has been told to expect a "very lengthy sentence".

39-year-old Michael Bergquist appeared at Douglas Courthouse yesterday where he was told he'll be sentenced next month.

He's previously admitted one charge of robbery, taking a vehicle without consent, using it with no insurance and failing to comply with the requirements of a provisional driving licence.

Bergquist robbed RHS Jewellers on Prospect Hill in Douglas on May 9th last year stealing over £25,000 worth of jewellery - he then made off on the stolen motorbike.

Social enquiry reports have been requested before he's sentenced on August 20th - he remains remanded at the Isle of Man Prison.
