Firms committed to General Gaol after death of worker

Wed, 15 Jul 2015

Two firms at the centre of a health and safety investigation have been committed to the Court of General Gaol Delivery.

Tuke and Bell Limited has previously pleaded guilty to an offence of failing to discharge duty on or about May 1st 2013.

At Douglas Courthouse yesterday the company was told it will next appear before the court on July 24th.

JCK Limited, which has denied the same offence, will receive a court date in due course.

The charges relate to the death of 55-year-old Gareth Sowden who suffered fatal crush injuries after being trapped under a shipping container.

At the time he was working at a sewerage treatment facility in Kirk Michael.
