Chief dismisses referendum calls as 'cop out'

Referring issues to a referendum could be viewed as a "cop out" according to the Chief Minister.

In Tynwald this week he'll be questioned about his policy on constitutional and political decisions, as well as if he's considered holding a referendum on same-sex marriage.

Douglas West MHK Chris Thomas is one of those who'd like to see the process introduced - he wants to know how much it would cost.

However Allan Bell says MHKs have been appointed for a reason - to make difficult decisions:
