A disqualified driver who crashed a car whilst drunk has been sent to prison after being told he's gone past "last chance saloon".

39-year-old Jonathon Bostock took his partner's car without her permission on April 23rd before losing control and crashing it on the Mountain Road.

He suffered a serious elbow injury - when police breathalysed him he was found to be one and a half times over the drink drive limit.

The Douglas man admitted driving whilst disqualified and without due care and attention - as well as three counts of theft from March this year.

Bostock's advocate told the court his life was "blighted by substance misuse" and he was genuinely remorseful and ashamed.

Sentencing him Deputy High Bailiff Jayne Hughes imposed a 16 week sentence and disqualified him from driving for six years.
