Key stretch of road closing for tree felling works

A stretch of road will be closed from today to allow trees infected with Dutch Elm disease to be felled. 

The Peel to Ramsey road will be closed from the Switchback to Ballabooie Road for three days between 9.30am and 3.30pm.

Jimmy Lee from the Department of Environment Food and Agriculture says they have to act as soon as infected trees are identified.

He told us the forests are constantly being monitored to prevent any serious outbreaks:
