People urged to hide valuables ahead of Christmas

People are being urged to hide their Christmas shopping in an effort to deter opportunistic thieves.

Police say with the festive season approaching it's important to ensure valuables aren't left in plain sight in homes or vehicles.

Yesterday officers published CCTV of a burglar in a home in Douglas pocketing someone else's property - he's now been arrested and charged and will appear in court today. 

As part of the new 'It's Time to Change' campaign people are being advised of small steps they can take to protect themselves.
