Stark warning for woman found drunk in car

Mon, 30 Nov 2015

An Onchan woman who was found drunk in her car has been told if she doesn't stop drinking she "won't be long for this life".

50-year-old Linda Mcruvie was around three times the drink drive limit when officers found her in the car park at Grianagh Court on August 8th.

At Douglas Courthouse last week she was handed an eight month prison sentence, which has been suspended for two years, after pleading guilty to being drunk in charge of a vehicle.

Her advocate told the court being arrested, and completing an alcohol detox programme, may have saved her life adding "she clearly needs all the help she can get".

Sentencing her Deputy High Bailiff Jayne Hughes also disqualified her from driving and imposed a licensing ban telling Mcruvie "it's literally a matter of life and death - you have to stop drinking".
