Preparations are being made to recover a bus which fell into the river in Laxey last night.

The double decker was on the bridge near to The Shore Hotel when it collapsed - the bus driver, who was the only person onboard, managed to escape uninjured.

Bus Vannin says it needs assistance to remove the vehicle from the Department of Infrastructure which has other priorities during the clean-up operation.

Its headquarters at Banks Circus was also a casualty of last night with the bus garage and offices flooded - as a result the buses are currently parked at the Sea Terminal.
