Guilty plea from man who 'clothes-lined' victim

Mon, 01 Feb 2016

A Douglas man who "clothes-lined" another man as he ran past him in the street will be sentenced in March.

28-year-old Anthony Ford's arm connected with the victim's neck causing him to fall to the floor, bang his head and become unconscious.

CCTV from the Duke Street area captured the assault in the early hours of December 20th last year.

Ford was arrested and told police he'd put his arm out to protect himself when he saw the man approaching because he suffers from anxiety.

At Douglas Courthouse last week he admitted assault occasioning actual bodily harm - social enquiry reports have been requested before he's sentenced on March 10th.
