People encouraged people to buy meat locally

People are being urged to buy their meat locally - in a bid to help grow the Island's food and drink sector.

At the moment around 60 to 70 per cent of locally sourced meat gets exported costing 12p a kilo.

The Isle of Man Creamery and Isle of Man Meats have both recently been awarded a prestigious AA food safety certification.

Mike Owen is the chief executive at the meat plant - he hopes the award will help boost its reputation and encourage people to support local industry:
