Building new accommodation for medical professionals will help inspire more people to take up jobs on the Isle of Man.

That's according to the Department of Health and Social Care which has applied to replace the Nurses' Home in Douglas which opened in 1951.

Interim associate chief nurse Maggie Bayley says although she doesn't believe the sub-standard digs are putting people off, it's time to offer something better.

The £2.4 million project would temporarily house nurses, junior doctors and locum staff - despite not being built until 2017 Maggie says it will be a good recruitment tool:
