MHK to present 'abhorrent' same sex marriage proposals

Tue, 01 Mar 2016

Plans to change the new same sex marriage legislation to allow teachers to opt-out of teaching the subject have been branded 'abhorrent'.

In the House of Keys today, North Douglas MHK John Houghton will try and amend two clauses.

He wants to change the Education Act - which would also allow parents to remove their children from classes. In addition, he wants to let civil registrars opt-out of conducting marriage ceremonies.
