Superintendent urging police officers to talk about depression

Police officers on the Isle of Man are being told "Don't Keep Depression Under Your Hat".

It's in a bid to get them talking about their mental health - today around 10 per cent of the Manx force will attend a special event to mark Depression Awareness Week.

The meeting, which has been organised with the Department of Health and Social Care, will look at how officers can look after their own and each other's mental wellbeing.

It's the brainchild of Superintendent Simon Lowe - he's suffered from depression for 20 years and says it's an issue which needs to be discussed because there is help available:
