MHK's 'relief' as poison pen letter saga concludes

Prospective politicians are being urged not to be put off standing for election - by an MHK who fell victim to a poison pen campaign. 
 
Eddie Teare has spoken out after his tormentor - 63-year-old John Corran - was handed a suspended prison sentence earlier this week after admitting penning two threatening letters.
 
The Treasury Minister says his overwhelming feeling is "relief" after being forced to make significant changes to his home security between November 2014 and December 2015.
 
He installed CCTV and outdoor lights which remained on all night.
 
He says he believes the sentence handed down, which includes a restraining order, sends out a clear signal to anyone else considering targeting those in public office:
